Hi, I'm Suz,
I’ll be working with you and your gown exclusively through the whole alterations process here in my cosy home studio in Knowle, Bristol.
I’ve lived in the BS4 postcode forever, with the exception of a couple years for college.
My focus and passion is alterations and repairs to Wedding dresses and Formal gowns.
I absolutely love to see the boost in confidence the placement of a few pins can give you in your first fitting which transforms into full confidence at our next fitting...making it yours...no matter how big or small the alterations!
I loved sewing from a young age; both grandmothers taught me the basics on their own machines; one on the old faithful singer hand crank & the other (an ex-Clark’s shoes machinist) on her beloved Bernina – both of these machines I now treasure.
Textiles was my favourite subject in school and college. I never knew exactly what I wanted to do with it but fell into a general alterations job (a little bit of everything) after leaving college way back in 2007 & loved it!
SewSuz was always a dream but became a reality in 2020 following redundancy. Business picked up quickly and the bridal requests started coming thick and fast in 2021…I’ve not looked back since!
As well as being a Bridal Seamstress, I’m also a wife, mum (and taxi) of two, advocate for my Aunt with severe learning disabilities, fabric and haberdashery addict and also a classic car lover! Fuelled by tea and biscuits…although NOT in the studio!
You’ll find me most fitting days in casual clothes; jeans, t-shirt/top and trainers with my hair scraped back…when I’m crawling around you on the floor it’s what’s practical! I don’t do make up either…never when working…I would be horrified to get it on any gowns!
