Booking in advance is always recommended; this could be as soon as you buy or order your dress(es)/outfit(s) &/or have your wedding date.
A first fitting is usually scheduled for around 8 weeks before your wedding date with a second fitting around 4weeks before. Some dresses may require 3 or more fittings which cannot always be foreseen but will be booked in appropriately.
Fittings are booked for up to one hour, some are quicker than others but it all depends what needs to be done.
*A booking fee applies for all bridal, bridesmaids & formal wear (per dress) upon confirmation of appointments. Alterations are charged separately to the booking fee.
This will vary as no two dresses are the same or even fit different bodies in the same way.
Typically I advise pricing to range *from £250.00-£450.00 for the most frequently required alterations. Sometimes this can be a little less or a little more, it just depends on the dress.
Please be aware that dresses with lots of layers, embellishments including lace & beading will be more costly than a dress with no detail and 2-3 layers in the hem.
Major alterations, resizing & design changes will likely incur additional costs.
I can give a rough estimate prior to your first fitting based on the details you provide, this is of course subject to seeing & fitting the dress. A consultation can also be arranged during the quieter season (October-February) to discuss alterations.
-Your DRESS(es).
-A full length BREATHABLE STORAGE BAG & HANGER.
- Any FOUNDATION GARMENT(S) e.g. bra, any shapewear, sew in cups, underskirts, etc.
- SHOES – These are essential for EVERY fitting! - I cannot pin your hem without them!
& anything else that you plan to wear that may affect the fit of your dress.
Of course! BUT my work room & fitting space is limited. Where possible I ask that only those in need of fitting are present however understand that a bride may wish to bring along someone for support.
· I can host a maximum of one additional guest with a bridal fitting (bride + one). This is particularly important for any dress with a train - which is most wedding dresses.
· I can host a maximum of three in one sitting for bridesmaid fittings (bride + 2 bridesmaids or bride + bridesmaid + guest)
· Children are not to attend unless booked for their own fitting.
*Where booking for a larger party, appointments for bridesmaids or other wedding guests can (ideally) be arranged in pairs. Where possible I will try to book appointments together however this cannot always be guaranteed & all appointments offered are subject to availability.
Areas undergoing alteration will be steamed/pressed however a full steaming & pressing service if required will be charged as an additional service. This can be prior to your second fitting/collection or a date can be arranged to collect the dress at a later date.
* I cannot guarantee to remove all creases.
If a dress is heavily creased prior to alteration please be aware that it may require steaming/pressing; for the accurate pinning of hems in particular. If this is the case an appointment can be arranged to drop off the dress prior to your alterations appointment to be steamed. Dry Cleaners may also be able to provide this service.
...such as bridesmaids, mother of, etc...
Of course but this will depend on my availability & the turnaround required.
Sometimes BUT not always.
Booking alterations in advance for any wedding or event is always recommended, especially for peak season spring & summer dates.
It's not always possible to accommodate a last minute request however dependent upon on my schedule & your requirements any rushed timelines that can be accommodated will incur rush fees that will be applied in addition to the total cost of alterations & steaming.
